What is The American Black Directory? The American Black Directory is a National Directory of Black owned
businesses throughout the United States of America. It lists black owned businesses in your city and many other
cities throughout the USA. We have also included profiles on these cities and some of the more prominent African
Americans that have helped shape that city into what it has become. We hope that you will not only visit these
wonderful cities as a whole, but, more importantly, be aware of the unique black communities and points of interest
contained within them. These are examples of the struggle of the black people and a celebration of their successes.
We believe that a reminder of where we have come from and what we have been through as a people, will strengthen
and encourage us in where we need to be going.
The American Black Directory provides black owned businesses with an opportunity to advertise locally to those
people who live in their area, as well as to people that live outside their community. The American Black Directory
allows black owned businesses to advertise and introduce their products and services to the market place from coast
to coast, because The American Black Directory is circulated to the general public in your city and community and in
other cities and communities throughout the USA – all alphabetical by city and state.
Often the American black consumer prefers a black owned business and in many cases has vital need for its unique
quality and service but cannot find one because there is no genuine reference showing black owned business
locations, both locally and nationally.
That is why we say that we are locally at home and national away from home. We urge all black owned businesses to
support this effort and definitely list your business in The American Black Directory and all black people to support
these black businesses.
Aside from simply getting black owned businesses exposed to the general market place and recognized in what is
often their rare, premium and unique form, we have another purpose which we hold dearly and that is the need for
American black owned business to appeal openly to the American black consumer market. This market alone is the
key to vast and abundant economic development within the American black commu-nity. This market place consists
of better than $300 billion dollars in annual consumer market at the retail level. Now keep in mind – if you figure this
market place at a national marginal profit of 15%, that equals to $45 billion dollars, not to mention another 10% at the
wholesale supply side ($30 billion dollars). This constitutes a gross profit margin of about $75 billion annually. We
here at The American Black Directory must admit that it is quite inconceivable to us why the black or African
American business community does not control or even participate more in this vast market place. After all that has
been said relative to this matter, we feel that it is time to do more than simply talk about it, but deal with it in terms of
the reality that exists within the black community; we must deal with this problem from a position of unity for the
purpose of economic development within our own ranks. Therefore, let us unite to manifest change that shall be
enriched with self-pride and a love for the mutual progress of all black and African Americans.
We here at the American Black Directory seek to inform both the black consumer and the black business person that
together they share a common ground which creates a vast commercial economic force. We must come together in
business as black brothers and sisters and profit by each other’s presence. We have as much as about $75 billion dollars to gain and nothing to lose. Think of what it will mean to capture this money, then constantly reinvest it back
into the black community …? Eureka!!!
